A glow for every climate

Travel can be harsh on the skin – you’re spending hours in a dry aeroplane cabin and then transplanting yourself into a foreign climate with no heads-up for your skin. Suddenly it’s contending with surprise conditions such as humidity, pollution, extra UV rays and more. And that’s why we’ve put together four must-have skincare sets for every scenario, to keep your holiday skin fresh and glowing no matter what.

Tropical (hot and humid)

A popular holiday climate, which is prone to oil build-up and breakouts.

Cleanser

Cleanse twice a day to keep skin free from sweat and oil buildup. The Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel is lightweight and perfect for hot climes. It also comes in a handy travel size!

Lightweight Moisturiser

Use a gel- or water-based moisturiser that isn’t too rich. The Aspect Sheer Hydration Oil Free Moisturiser is a lightweight formula filled with antioxidants. It also leaves a slightly mattifying finish, perfect for dealing with a sweaty face.

Oil-free sunscreen

Daily sunscreen is a must, and a non-comedogenic sunscreen is better for avoiding clogged pores. The Ultra Violette Lean Screen SPF50+ is perfect.

Water

You’ll be losing water as you sweat, so keep your fluid intake up, in order to keep your body and your skin hydrated!

Silk pillowcase

Sleeping on a silk case can help regulate your temperature overnight and wick unwanted oil away from your skin. Pack your own, and slip it over the hotel pillows when you get there. We have the perfect one for you.

Desert (hot and dry):

Dry heat can suck the moisture out of your skin! But not if you’re prepared…

Intensive moisturiser

Use an emollient-rich moisturiser to combat the dryness. La Roche-Posay’s Cicaplast Baume went viral for a reason – formulated with nourishing ingredients that help restore the skin's moisture barrier, it’s a perfect travel pal.

Hydrating masks

Packing a few face masks can work wonders on the plane, and then every few days to replenish and restore your skin in desert climes. The Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask is a luxurious option for plump, dewy skin.

High protection sunscreen

Apply an SPF50+ sunscreen at least 20 minutes before stepping outside.

Face mist

Use hydrating face mists throughout the day to keep moisture on your skin in dry weather. The Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs & Rosewater will hydrate and soothe. AND doubles as a hydrating mist for dry, heat-affected hair as well.

Lip balm

Lips are prone to dryness too, and can crack or split if not kept hydrated. Pack a couple of lip balms so you can always have one on hand.

Lukewarm showers

Hot water will strip the natural oils from your skin, so opt for warm showers and water when washing your face.

Wintry (cold and dry)

Heading into a winter escape? Keep the moisture up!

Gentle cleanser

Choose a cream-based cleanser to avoid stripping natural oils. Skinstitut’s Gentle Cleanser is enriched with calming Vitamin B5, and nourishing Goji Berry, Green Tea, and Aloe Vera. We also love the Alpha-H Melting Moment Cleansing Balm that’s enriched with Grapeseed oil.

Rich moisturiser

A rich, hydrating moisturiser will combat dryness and keep your skin looking plump and lush. We love the Weleda Skin Food. Or the humidifying face cream from Humanrace.

Travel humidifier

Using a humidifier overnight will keep moisture in the air and avoid drying your skin out. If you don’t have a humidifier, add a hyaluronic serum into your kit like the Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Serum from Laneige.

Lip balm

Lips get dry too! Carry a nourishing balm to keep lips plump and soft.

Polluted

Big cities and travel environments mean extra care is needed to protect your skin from pollutants.

A pair of cleansers

Start with an oil-based cleanser followed by a gentle foaming cleanser to thoroughly remove pollutants without leaving your skin dry. Dermalogica’s PreCleanse is a popular oil cleanser that pioneered the idea of the double-cleanse. And it pairs well with the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel.

Antioxidant serum

A serum rich in antioxidants like vitamin C, E, and ferulic acid will help to combat free radicals. Like The Ordinary’s Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%.

Barrier cream

Applying a barrier cream provides an extra layer of protection. Drunk Elephant’s D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Bronzing Drops provides a concentrated mix of protective antioxidants, with a glowy, sun-kissed bronzing effect – perfect for travel!

Sunscreen

Sunscreen is a given in all contexts. And UV rays can exacerbate pollution damage so don’t step out without your SPF50+!

Hair care

Keep hair protected from unnecessary stress and damage – opt for luxurious up dos, with our delicate silk scrunchies.
