Featherweight - Staying cool during summertime
Sleep comfortably through the summer heat
Summer is wonderful, the warm days can be glorious. But once the sun goes down and it’s time for sleep, the heat can be more of a nuisance. Still air, sticky skin… summer can make good sleep harder to come by. How can you enjoy the beauty of summer days, and still get deep, peaceful, comfortable sleep at night? Read on.
Warm showers cool you down
Taking a warm shower 30 minutes before bed actually helps your body lower its temperature, which is what you need for good sleep. Your body will naturally start to lower its own temperature once you’re in bed and winding down, but the warm shower can kick-start that process and get you into sleep mode sooner – especially on a hot night.
Silk is the summer hero
Silk is non-absorbent, hypo-allergenic and moisture-wicking. Which means sleeping on a silk pillowcase will help keep your skincare on your skin, wick away unwanted oils that can be particularly heavy in summer, and regulate your temperature with the cool touch of silk on your face.
Light fabrics work wonders
Opting for bedding and clothing made of lightweight, natural fibers such as linen will keep you comfortable through the summer. Linen is highly breathable, moisture-wicking and quick-drying, which reduces moisture buildup and keeps everything feeling super light and flowy overnight.
A light mask for heavy rest
Getting a solid 7–9 hours overnight helps you wake up with plump, glowing skin and a clear, fresh mind. A sleep mask has been proven to help you get better sleep by blocking light – and now we have a summer-ready option just in time for those hot nights. Check out our Featherweight Sleep Mask – a lightweight, slimline, light-blocking 22 Momme Mulberry silk mask that’s perfect for a cool, sleepy summer.
Finally, stay hydrated
You naturally lose more moisture (from sweating) in summer, which means it’s easier to find yourself dehydrated. And that can cause restless sleep, fogginess and headaches. Build a habit around drinking 2–3 liters of water a day, and notice the difference!
